Customizing Gamecube Controller with Shell Swap

There are have been many re-releases and copies of the Nintendo Gamecube controller, but there is something special about how the originals feel. I want a new controller, but I want to keep a lot of that similar feel. So today I’m going to show you a shell swap!

I am not a gamecube controller expert. This is just what I did for my controller and what had worked for me. I will happily try to help anyone who is having issues, but I’d also recommend checking out something like

  • Bro you high as hell

  • how do reiso controllers deal with this?

  • y'know, if you had put a transparent black bottom on, it would have been a nice looking Daiei Hawks version

  • I tried doing a shell swap with a transparent pink 3rd party controller and used a soldering iron to melt some plastic away. I wouldn’t recommend anyone do this. It smells terrible lol, using wire cutters is an infinitely better idea. I also used the soldering iron to swap rumble packs of the controllers so I wouldn’t need to melt any more of the shell that would’ve gotten in the way of the original game cubes bigger rumble pack. I ultimately didn’t like my result so I put everything back together the way it used to be, but after watching this video I might have another go at it 🙂

  • I’m only doing this to replace controller pads

  • How much different does it sound with the new orange plastic

  • So…. what brand was the third party controller ? And how does it feel when playing? Any major differences?
